Rationale for Fee Increases

The Home Office states that the revised fees will help move towards a self-funding passport system, reducing reliance on general taxation. The Home Office reports that in 2024, 99.7% of standard UK applications were processed within three weeks when no additional information was required. Applicants are advised to apply well in advance of planned travel to avoid delays.
